I think that what Abrams says is very interesting. I think there is an inherent magic to everything that has a function, even to something mundane like a rock. When Abrams mentions the words "magic" and "mystery," I think he's referring to the science behind how something works. The magic behind rocks is that not only do they keep their atomic structure when broken down, but they also store a variety of minerals that also contain layers of complexity. Even if it may not seem like much, there is a sort of magic to how things are made, and that's the beauty of design.
